POBNEWS24, Dhaka Jul 1, 2021 : Seven-day strict ban announced by the Bangladesh government started on Thursday (July 1) morning. However, the roads of the capital are quite empty compared to other days. No public transport was seen running on the main roads of the capital. However, rickshaws and people were seen on the road.
Rickshaws and a limited number of private vehicles were seen plying on various roads in the capital including Shewrapara, Agargaon, Suhrawardy Medical Area, Dhanmondi and Panthapath. Law enforcers have been seen patrolling the streets at various intersections. Police as well as BGB patrols were seen.
Police are interrogating by stopping motorcycles and private cars at various checkposts. Many have come out in urgent need. Employees of various organizations including factories, banks and media have also been seen leaving the vehicles or identity cards of the organizations.
Army patrols have been seen in Rampura and Hatirjheel areas of the capital to assist the civilian administration. Pedestrians are being checked by setting up a mobile court of RAB at Shahbagh intersection.
If they do not show sufficient reason, they are being fined. At the same time, law enforcers are distributing masks to unmasked rickshaw pullers or pedestrians.
There is a lot of movement of people inside the seven mosques of Dhanmondi west of the capital. People have come out for various needs including raw market. Vegetables were seen being sold in vans on the sidewalk.
The lockdown, which began at 8am on Thursday (July 1), will continue until July 6 to curb the rise in corona virus infections. At this time, if you go out of the house without an urgent reason, strict punitive measures have been warned.
