By Soma Mookherjee POBNEWS24, Kolkata, June 08, 2022 : Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP and party’s national spokesperson today addressed the media on the BJP spokesperson:s outrageous statement, and ED asking the UAE government to keep an eye on AITc national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee:s movement in Dubai

Mr Roy said,”on May 28, PM Modi proclaimed that he had not done anything or allowed any activity that would

make Indians hang their heads in shame. This is a white lie, as two days before the PM’s tall clsim a BJP spokesperson made outrageous comments against the Prophet on

national television bringing international shame to India

“Why is the Prime Minister allowing such leaders a free hand? Indians across the globe have been forced to hang their heads in shame,”” Mr Roy asked.

Indian products are being boycotted by many countries. For the fault of BJP’s

spokespersons, the entire nation is being ridiculed,he added.

A total of 15 countries have slammed India, and have condemned the controversial

remarks made by the BJP spokesperson

Quoting Indian Penal Code’s Section 153A states that any person indulging in vilification or attacks on religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, of any particular group or class

or upon the founders and prophets of religion should be punished by imprisonment for three years.

“Why hasn’t the Home Ministry initiated any action on the BJP spokespersons, who  have  been guilty of spreading hatred?'”

“Another clause of IPC, Section 295A, states that any aggravated form of insult to religion, when it is perpetrated with deliberate and malicious intent to outrage religious feelings, should be punished.”

He also stated under section 295A, the police have the power to arrest person

without warrant. Why hasn’t the Centre initiated action against the BJP spokespersons?” the chief whip asked.

The spokespersons have been expelled and suspended from the party, but why has the

Home Ministry not acted against the two under the aforesaid IPC sections? he asked.

“Why haven’t the Solicitor General and the Attorney General given their consent to arrest these  leaders? If any other politician from any other party had made such comments, they would have

already been rotting in jails , he added.

Recently, the United States State Department came out with a report that stated that there was no security

of minorities in India, and violation of human rights happened day-in,

day-out, Mr Roy stated.

The repercussion are being felt all over the world. Even the British Parliament

has debated attacks on minorities in India. Why isn’t the Modi govt arresting such people  who are bringing shame to the entire country?” he asked.

India is jeopardizing its crude oil import given that 60% comes from Gulf countries. “We must not forget that UAE is India’s 3rd largest trade partner and India receives more than half of the  remittances from the five Gulf countries of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait

and Oman,’ Mr Roy said.

The tension between India and the Gulf nations may cripple Indian businesses and

destroy the livelihood of over 89 lakh Indians living there. What is their future? he asked.

He also stated In fact, the said leaders who made the shameful remarks are followed on social media by

the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister and the Governor of West Bengal

BJP only banks on the politics of hatred against minority communities. And it is obvious, that their leaders will follow the suit, he added.

If, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, the BJP spokespersons who made the remarks were  belements, then who is the mainstream?

From being a peace-loving and respectful nation; we have fast turned into a nation that is hateful towards its minorities. Is this BJP’s idea of ‘Sabka Saath’? Is this their idea of Vasundhara Kutumbskam? he asked

“One should ponder the state of affairs if the police give protection to people who should  rather be 5t5 clear that the government is protecting hate mongers,” he added.

Nupur Sharma is a serial offender, she was booked by Kolkata Police in 2017 for passing of gake cars about communal riots.Mr Roy stated.

On ED asking the UAE government to keep a watch on Abhishek Banerjee’s movement 77

AITC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has gone to the United Arab Emirates

for medical treatment, after taking prior permission from the Calcutta High Court. There too the Enforcement Directorate had objected, but it was rejected by the High Court

Even though the ED has the details of Abhishek Banerjee’s itinerary, it has asked the UAE

government to keep an eye on his movements

The Sovereignty of Parliament is being not followed by the Central Government and its

agencies. This is reprehensible. Nirav Modi ran away with crores of rupees after clicking

photos with the Prime Minister. Why isn’t the Central Government keeping an eye on Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya? He asked.

As Abhishek Banerjee has said in his tweet, the Modi government might be keeping a tab on him but the people of India are now keeping a tab on the Modi government.
