POBNEWS24, Dhaka Nov 1, 2021 :A four-year-old child in a rickshaw was killed when a truck hit him in the capital’s Gulshan. The child’s father, mother and his six-year-old sister were injured. The accident took place in front of the American embassy in Gulshan at 11 pm on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mahfuzur Rahman Rihan. The child’s father Abdur Rahim, mother Shahjadi Begum and sister Rahi (7) were injured.
Shishu Mahfuzur’s uncle Abdur Rahman said, their home is in Shahjadpur. At night they went to the market in Gulshan area. On the way back from there, they were hit by a truck and fell off the rickshaw. Pedestrians later rescued them and took them to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctor declared the child Mahfuzur dead at around 1.30 pm. Others are being treated at the hospital.
Hospital police camp inspector Bachchu Mia said the child’s body was kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College.
Gulshan police sub-inspector (SI) Nazrul Islam said the truck was seized and the driver was detained. However, he could not reveal the name of the driver.
According to the family, their village home is in Khalishpur of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. The child’s father is a grocer by profession.
