POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 15, 2022 : Former South African cricketer Albie Morkel has been appointed as the ‘Power-Heating Coach’ by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
Morkel has been named in the squad for the ODI series against South Africa. Jalal Yunus said, ‘He (Morkel) is a very experienced cricketer.
I believe our batsmen will benefit from his coaching. ‘
Two weeks ago, Bangladesh appointed Morkel’s compatriot Alan Donald as the bowling coach. The team’s head coach is South African Russell Domingo. No one doubts Albie Morkel’s power-heating ability. He has a strike rate of over 100 in ODIs and International T20s.
Morkel has played one Test for South Africa. Even there, his strike rate is 61.89. He also has a strike rate of 100.26 in ODIs and 142.29 in International Twenty20. The left-arm batsman also hit the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a huge six off the Chennai Super Kings jersey.
