POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 19, 2022 : Several Hajis landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday at 10:40 PM on an Air Arabia G-9510 flight. Among them, 26 people without financial capacity went for Haj under the management of Sayem Sobhan Anveer, Managing Director (MD) of Bashundhara Group, the country’s top industrialist family.
One of the 26 is Khandaker Abdul Ghaffar (58), a resident of Sonargaon Upazila in Narayanganj. He told Kal Kantha, ‘My dream in life was to perform Hajj.
But he did not have the opportunity due to the lack of family. Alhamdulillah, that opportunity came because of Bashundhara’s MD. He has no end of gratitude for this. ‘
Abdul Ghaffar said that he sells hats and perfumes in Baitul Mukarram Market. He has to struggle to make ends meet.
Sayem Sobhan Anveer has given opportunity to 104 Muslims who are unable to perform Umrah like Abdul Ghaffar. He is the Chief Advisor of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee and President of Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS).
Another worshiper of this caravan is Shafiqul Hasan (55). Works in a showroom. He told the voice of time, “I could not imagine that I will be able to perform Hajj.” I got to see the kabaghar at the help of MD of Bashundhara. I put my hands there and prayed for him. ‘
Joynal Abedin (48), a resident of Barisal’s Bakerganj upazila. He is a shopkeeper in Baitul Mukarram Market. He said, ‘Alhamdulillah, we are very happy. I completed Umrah very comfortably. May Allah reward Sayem Sahib well. ‘
Gulzar Ahmed, the senior vice president of Baitul Mukarram’s worshipers’ committee, said, “Sayem Sobhan Anveer gave Iftar to 50 thousand worshipers of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque last Ramadan. He himself was present one day. At that time, he wished to make 100 indigent people perform Umrah Hajj. As a result, 26 people of the first stage have performed Umrah Hajj. ‘
He said two more groups will go this December and all will be sent for Umrah Hajj within the first week of January. Initially, 100 people were said to be going for Umrah Hajj.
The first caravan of Umrah Hajj left for Saudi Arabia on December 4. On the occasion of the Yatra, all Umrah pilgrims are gifted a new Punjabi and dry food. Later in the afternoon they paid a courtesy call on Sayem Sobhan Anveer.
