This 15-year-old wound is still a nightmare for people in the south. On that day, the coastal area saw terrible devastation due to the impact of Cyclone Sidor, which is the worst effect of climate change. Hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives in one of the worst cyclones of the century. Thousands more went missing. People lost their houses and helpers and became helpless. Even after 15 years of Sidor, the coastal people have not yet lost the pressure. Relatives of the deceased are carrying scars.

According to local administration sources, 1 thousand 345 dead bodies were recovered in Barguna district in 2007 cyclone Sidr. Another 156 people were missing. However, according to the private sector, the death toll is about 2,000. And the number of injured is 28 thousand 50 people. Among the 2 lakh 13 thousand 461 families of this district, 1 lakh 89 thousand 785 houses have been destroyed, 2 lakh 43 thousand 393 acres of crops have been damaged, 30 thousand 499 cattle have died, 1 thousand 235 educational institutions have been damaged, and 420 kilometers of roads have been damaged. However, this number is higher as a private sector.

The families that were torn apart by the whirlwind Sidr have not been able to stand up even today. Still more than half a hundred fishermen families are living in huts on the banks of rivers and seas. They are passing the day without eating. They have complaints against local public representatives. It is said that due to non-cooperation these families are still living in huts. Couldn’t make a nest yet. They are spending inhuman days without eating by hunting fish in the river.

A person who lost four family members told pobnews24 that he lives in Khottarchar area of ​​Taltali upazila. Char lived with his parents, wife and grandmother. As the water in the river was rising, he left for safety around 9pm. After that, around 10 o’clock in the night, a huge wave came and sank their boat. In this, parents, wife and old grandmother are lost in the sea in the catastrophic Cyclone Sidre. But he can save one boy and one girl. Locals recovered their bodies from the paddy field two days later. Jamal could not overcome that wound yet.

Meanwhile, Hosne Ara and Phulbaru Bibi, who live in a shanty house in Nishanbaria Union area, said that they have not found a house in 15 years. The local representatives are not giving us anything. They are giving houses to those who have land.

Amtali upazila executive officer in charge of Taltali. Asaduzzaman said, necessary measures will be taken by listing the homeless. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that no person will remain homeless.
