The government has finally accepted the demands of railway workers in Bangladesh

POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Janu 29, 2025 : Railway running staff were on strike across the country demanding pension and gratuity along with running allowance along with salary. Train services were suspended across the country on Tuesday. It was announced that the trains would be closed on Wednesday morning as well. Finally, the problem was apparently resolved after 2 am on Tuesday.

A meeting was held with the railway advisor on Tuesday night to resolve the problem along with the labor leaders. The meeting was attended by Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the anti-discrimination student movement, and Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, special assistant to the BNP chairperson and coordinator of the Nationalist Workers’ Party.
After the meeting, briefing at around 2:30 am, Bangladesh Railway Running Staff and Workers’ Workers’ Union General Secretary Md. Mujibur Rahman said, “The advisor has assured us that our problem will be resolved by Wednesday. We do not want public suffering. We express our regret. We are calling off the strike from now on. We have withdrawn the strike.” Earlier, Hasnat Abdullah posted on Facebook at 2:15 am after leaving the meeting, saying that the strike had been called off.
Hasnat wrote, “The strike of railway officials and employees has been called off. We met with the railway advisor along with the labor leaders to resolve the problems of railway officials and employees. Press conference in this regard at 2:30 am.”
On the other hand, the railway authorities have filed a case regarding the attack on Rajshahi Railway Station during the workers’ strike. The station manager filed the case with Rajshahi Railway Police Station on Tuesday (January 28) night.
Rajshahi Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gopal Karmakar confirmed this information.
He said that the Rajshahi Railway Station Manager has filed a case on behalf of the railway authorities regarding the attack and vandalism at the station. An unknown person has been made the accused in this.
He also said that Suman Ahmed, the main mastermind involved in the attack and vandalism at Rajshahi Railway Station, was arrested in a drive conducted on Tuesday night. He has been handed over to us. He will be sent to court today.
