POBNEWS24, April 27, 2022 : Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jayashankar is coming to Dhaka on Thursday. Sources said that he will visit Dhaka with an invitation letter sent by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit. During the visit, he will have a courtesy call on the Prime Minister and a meeting with Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen. He will leave Dhaka for Bhutan tomorrow Friday morning.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Foreign Minister Jayashankar will begin a three-day visit to Bangladesh and Bhutan tomorrow. The visit of the Indian Foreign Minister to Bangladesh can be seen in the context of high-level exchange of visits as part of the celebration of the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Indian Foreign Minister visited Bangladesh in March last year.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told reporters on Tuesday that he hoped the Indian foreign minister would bring some good news. That may be the good news about the Prime Minister’s visit.
According to diplomatic sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may visit India in June or July. During his visit to Dhaka last March, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit New Delhi. This time India can offer a specific date for the visit.
In addition to the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit, Foreign Minister Momen’s meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister tomorrow will include a meeting of the Joint Consultative Commission in New Delhi next month to discuss the Ukraine-Russia crisis, including water sharing, border killings, communications, independence roads, trade agreements and tariffs on jute.
