POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 20, 2022 : Victoria Nuland, the U.S. State Department’s undersecretary for political affairs, said the issue of RAB sanctions was complex. The ban on RAB is not being lifted now. The United States wants more talks. Progress documents have been provided by Bangladesh.

He said this at a press conference after the eighth partnership dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States on Sunday. The United States has handed over a draft of the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GISOMIA) to Bangladesh to facilitate arms sales at the meeting.
Victoria Nuland said the United States wants Bangladesh to be on the side of Indo-Pacific economic and security initiatives.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen told a news conference that Bangladesh had expressed deep concern over the ban on RAB in the Bangladesh-US partnership dialogue.
Foreign Secretary Masoud bin Momen said: “We have also clarified our position on issues such as democratic practices, freedom of the media, labor rights and religious harmony.” We also discussed ways to increase trade and investment and possible cooperation in the Blue Economy.
