POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Jan 23, 2022 : Mentioning the glorious role of Bangladesh Police Force in the Great Liberation War, the President recalled with deep respect the police personnel who sacrificed their lives for maintaining law and order at different times including the Great Liberation War. Abdul Hamid.

He said this in a message given on the occasion of ‘Police Week 2022’ on Monday (January 23).

The President said Bangladesh Police is a traditional institution of the country. This force has a glorious role in the great war of liberation.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time, called for independence in the early hours of March 26, 1971. Responding to his call, members of the Bangladesh Police at Rajarbagh Police Lines formed the first armed resistance against the invading Pakistani forces. 1,262 members of Bangladesh Police sacrificed their lives in the war of liberation. Not only in the great liberation war, but also in the needs of the country and in various crises, the police members did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives. 106 policemen serving the country and the people have died in the ongoing Kavid-19 overcrowding. I remember with deep respect the heroic members of the police who sacrificed their lives for maintaining law and order at different times including the great liberation war.

He said, “On the occasion of Police Week 2022, I would like to extend my best wishes and congratulations to all the members of Bangladesh Police.”

Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh Police is working with professionalism to maintain internal security and law and order in the country. The role of Bangladesh Police in suppressing terrorism and militancy has been praised at home and abroad. The role of Bangladesh Police in UN peacekeeping missions is brightening the image of Bangladesh abroad. In the current global context, the types and tactics of crime are undergoing drastic changes. Criminals are committing cyber crimes using social media and various apps, which is a major challenge for law enforcement agencies to prevent. The present government has taken massive initiatives to enhance the information technology capabilities of the police in combating cyber crime.

The President further said that on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, inspired by the slogan of ‘Mujib’s year pledge, police will be the people’, Bangladesh Police has implemented various programs throughout the year through which I think this force will be developed as a more people friendly organization. I hope that every member of the Bangladesh Police will be inspired by the spirit of the great war of liberation and will ensure the service of the people by performing their duties with patriotism, honesty and devotion. I wish overall success in organizing Police Week 2022
