POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 23, 2021:President Abdul Hamid called upon the government and political parties to work with honesty and sincerity in the public interest to ensure the prosperity and welfare of the nation.
The President made the call at the National Parade Square in the capital on Monday to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.
The President said if the government and the political parties work with honesty and sincerity in the public interest, the prosperity and welfare of the nation can be ensured. Recalling the political activities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman towards the people, the President said, “If the political parties can stand by the side of the poor as per their need, a new chapter will begin in the politics of the country.”
The President also appeared at the parade ground on the sixth day of the 10-day Mujib Year celebrations to promote Bangabandhu’s political philosophy and thoughts.
President of Nepal Vidya Devi Bhandari was the special guest and distinguished writer Selina Hossain was the keynote speaker at the function presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu. Education Minister Dipu Moni and State Minister for External Affairs Shahriar Alam also addressed the function. Also present on the occasion were Bangabandhu’s youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana, President’s wife Rashida Khanam and Nepal’s President’s daughter Usha Kiran Bhandari.
