POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 6, 2022 : Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam said the Center on Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (SIRDAP) could lead IRD among member countries.
He said these things at the inauguration of the training program on regional integrated rural development, governance, trade and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific region at Sirdap Auditorium in the capital on Saturday.
Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam said, ‘Those who came to power after the killing of Bangabandhu, could not change the fate of the people of this country. It has turned the country into a poor nation.
He also said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been able to free the country from poverty by coming to power. National targets have been set under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make the country prosperous and the country is moving fast to achieve that target. Due to the prudent leadership of the Prime Minister, the country will transform into a developed and prosperous country before 2041. ‘
Speakers at the event expressed hope that Sirdap will play a greater role in integrated rural development. They said that the role of Sirdap is important in rural development. Every member of Sirdap is working to improve the rural economy along with the government. Our expectation is that through globalization, Bangladesh will improve in the competitive market. Currently, Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food.
They also said that GDP growth, per capita income and average life expectancy are increasing. Meeting the SDG targets requires regional cooperation and global partnerships. The country is progressing in various indicators. Again there are many obstacles. But if we all work together, we can become a developed country by 2041 if we all work together.
Moshiur Rahman, Secretary of Rural Development and Cooperatives Department of the Ministry of Rural Development, Local Government, was present as a special guest in the event.
