POBNEWS24, Dhaka Sep 20, 2021 :Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has arrived in New York to attend the 7th General Assembly of the United Nations.
He arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York around 5:30 pm local time on Sunday (September 19) after a stopover in Helsinki, Finland.
The Prime Minister was welcomed at the airport by Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Rabab Fatima. After the formalities at the airport, the Prime Minister went to the New York Palace Hotel, the residence of the visiting Lotte.
Sheikh Hasina left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-1901 at 9:23 am on Friday (September 18) to attend the General Assembly session at the UN headquarters. He arrived at Helsinki Vantaa International Airport in Finland at 3:37 pm local time that day. After stopping there, the Prime Minister landed in New York on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-1902.
This is her first foreign trip in a year and a half since the Prime Minister’s visit to Italy in February 2020.
Sheikh Hasina will attend a closed-door meeting on climate change with the participation of heads of state and government from different countries on Monday (September 20) at 9 am local time in New York. On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 11:30 am, he will plant trees and dedicate a bench in the garden on the northern lawn of the UN headquarters.
On the same day, the Prime Minister will have a meeting with the President of the European Council Charles Michel at his residence during his visit. He will meet Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Motley at the same location at 3:15 p.m. Join the Sustainable Development Solutions Network at 4 p.m.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh will take part in the inaugural session of the 7th session of the UN General Assembly on September 21 at 9 am at the General Assembly Hall of the UN Headquarters. In the afternoon, he will sit at the round table meeting of the US-Bangladesh Business Council at his residence.
Sheikh Hasina will take part in a virtual program titled ‘White House Global Covid-19 Summit: Ending the Pandemic and Building Back Better’ from her residence during her visit on September 22 at 11 am local time. He will have a meeting with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands at 12 noon. In the afternoon, he will join a high-level (virtual) program titled ‘Rohingya Crisis: Sustainable Solutions are Vital’.
Sheikh Hasina will take part in a program titled ‘Event of Leaders Network on Delivering on the UN Common Agenda: Action to Achieve Equality and Conclusion’ on September 23 at 8 am local time. He will address a video message at the Food Systems Summit as Part of the Decade of Action to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) by 2030, chaired by the UN Secretary-General.
On the same day, Sheikh Hasina will hold regular meetings with Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Vietnamese President Nguyen Juan Fut at the UN headquarters.
Sheikh Hasina will address the 7th session of the UN General Assembly on the morning of September 24 local time. In the afternoon, he will meet with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte. He will be virtually involved in the civic reception organized by the expatriate Bangladeshi community in the United States at 8 pm.
The Prime Minister will leave New York for Washington on the morning of September 25, local time. He will stay in the United States until September 29.
The Prime Minister will leave Washington for Helsinki, Finland on September 30 at 5 pm local time on VVIP flight BG-1904 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
After a two-week state visit, the Prime Minister will arrive at Helsinki’s Vantaa International Airport on October 1 at 8:15 am. He is scheduled to leave for Dhaka on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-1905 at 10:15 am and reach Dhaka at 10:15 pm Bangladesh time on Friday.
