POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Aug 1, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘The progress of the country if there is real democracy is proven today. Awami League has proved that. After coming to power in 1996, I have done many things including the development of roads, school-college infrastructure, community clinics in health care. ‘
The Prime Minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the blood donation and plasma collection program of Krishak League held on the occasion of National Mourning Day at Dhanmondi Btrishi in the capital on Monday (August 1) morning.
Sheikh Hasina said, ’96 to 2001 was the period of prosperity of Bangladesh. What did they do after they came? Begging or made the country dependent. Corruption, murder and looting were commonplace. People did not have the right to vote. The terrorists of BNP openly snatched the ballots. We have to listen to them, in what way do they talk about the election?’
The Prime Minister said, ‘When developed countries are struggling, we are being frugal. This does not mean we are looting. BNP did the looting. BNP leaders are agitating against the hurricane. They have to hand over the hurricane. And we are doing everything to keep people well. I will do that. ‘
He said, ‘What has improved the country after the killing of the father of the nation? Went to martial law. The power was seized and made axiomatic. They came to power and destroyed the entire electoral system. Gives indemnity. Protects the murderers of the father of the nation. Brings war criminals to power. All arrangements were made to move the country away from the spirit of independence. Made us thieves and robbers with false accusations. What did the people of the country get?’
