POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 5, 2022 : The fire service and army are trying to put out the fire at BMA container depot in Sonaichhari union of Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong. As the fire service could not reach the spot, the army started spraying water from above.
The army is also working to prevent chemicals from falling into the sea. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a container depot. The death toll has risen to 36 as of noon on Sunday. Smoke was also seen rising from the depot at noon. Fires are burning in some places. The whole area is covered with smoke.
Anisur Rahman, deputy director of the fire service in Chittagong, said there were adequate equipment to put out the fire. He said the fire service could not go to the spot and spray water. The fire service is also having problems getting water. They have to fetch water from far away. Due to these reasons water has to be sprinkled from above.


BM Container Depot General Manager Nazmul Akhter Khan said that there were 1,200 containers in the depot. “Three thousand of these containers were empty,” he said. However, he does not know the amount of chemicals.
