POBNEWS24, Dhaka Feb 2, 2024 : After the formation of the parliament and the government, now it is the turn of the nomination for the reserved women’s seats in the parliament. In the meantime, Awami League has informed the Election Commission about giving nominations to 48 constituencies. Jatiya Party will get the remaining two seats. Many people who are interested to become MPs in the seats reserved by the Awami League nomination are flocking to the houses of the leaders. Trying to meet the party president and the prime minister.

Many names are coming up in the chats and hints of party leaders, many of whom can be seen in Parliament. Among them, it is heard that the central leader of the party, the leader of the affiliated organizations and the leaders of the Awami League in different districts will be taken into consideration. Apart from this, talks are going on about giving two-three seats to the alliance partners. However, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has indicated that the majority of the seniors will not be nominated this time.

This time, women can get seats – Awami League Finance and Planning Secretary Wasika Ayesha Khan, Agriculture and Cooperative Secretary Faridunnahar Laili, Health and Population Secretary Dr. Rokeya Sultana, Education Secretary Begum Shamsun Nahar (Champa), Executive Member Parveen Zaman Kalpana and Marufa Akhtar Popi. Apart from this, Akhtar Jahan, Marina Jahan, Safura Begum, Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia can also come among the central leaders.

Farida Yasmin, the first woman president of the National Press Club, may be in this Parliament in recognition of her success in the professional arena. Supreme Court Bar Association Vice-President Advocate Jasmine Sultana may also be hired for success in the legal arena. Mahzabeen Khaled, daughter of Arma Dutt and Khaled Musharraf, a member of the last parliament, can stay this time as well.

Jubo Mahila League’s former president Nazma Akhter and former general secretary Professor Apu Ukil, the organization’s former Dhaka Metropolitan North president Sabina Akhter Tuhin are also in the discussion.

Dhanmondi Thana Women’s Awami League leader and Bangabandhu family member Sheikh Milli, Awami League central leader Sanjida Khanam who lost with the boat are also in the discussion. Apart from this, Awami League’s international secretary Shammi Ahmed and former state minister Tarana Halim, who could not be elected due to citizenship complications, are also in the running.

As always, many of the regional leaders or district leaders will come to reserved seats. Besides successful in the professional arena, in recognition of the long political or professional life of the deceased parents, some of their children will also come to the reserved seats of this Parliament.

Among the coalition leaders, Afroza Haque, wife of Samyavadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, wife of Jasdar president Hasanul Haque Inu, may come to this parliament. Besides, someone from Jatiya Party president Anwar Hossain Manjur’s family may be brought.

The former general secretary of Jubo Mahila League, Professor Apu Ukil, told Jago News, ‘The leader will do what she thinks is good. We take his staff, his decisions to get the head.’

Supreme Court Bar Association Vice President Advocate Jasmine Sultana told Jago News, ‘I have been doing party activities on various platforms of Awami League since my student life. In particular, I have significant work with lawyers. In the meantime, I was on the side of the lawyers by forming a fund to deal with Corona during the Corona period. I helped them. In my area Chandpur, I was with lawyers and common people during Corona.

He said, “If I can become a member of Parliament, I will work as an active worker in the formation of the Prime Minister’s vision- ‘Smart Bangladesh’ besides playing a good role in law making.”

Awami League’s organizing secretary and Jatiya Sangsad whip Abu Saeed Al Mahmud told Swapan Jago News about the nomination of women’s seats, “Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, as always, is a family member who has made outstanding contributions to the country, politics and Awami League, and the tradition of various classes and professions is the priority in the nomination of women to Awami League. I believe that you will give.’

Regarding this, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, ‘Compared to the difficulty of taking or seeking nomination for women’s reserved seats, the opportunity to give us is very less. We will give importance to our tested, renounced ones. We will give priority to those who have sacrificed for the party, who are our time-tested workers.’

In the results of the 12th National Assembly elections, Awami League got 223 seats, 14 party partners Jasad and Workers Party got 62 independent seats. Kalyan Party got one seat. Jatiya Party won 11 seats. Awami League got 38 seats, Jatiya Party got 2 seats and independents got 10 seats out of 50 women’s seats in numerical proportional system.

In the meantime, the Election Commission has sent a letter to the parties and independents represented in the Parliament to join or join the party by January 30 to facilitate the distribution of women’s seats. On January 31, Awami League submitted a letter to the EC with everyone’s signature stating that they will nominate 48 constituencies jointly.
