Those who seek forgiveness, mercy, sustenance etc. from Almighty Allah on Shaveraat will be granted their wishes. However, on this night, if the polytheist and the violent do not repent, they will not be forgiven, nor will their needs be fulfilled. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Allah manifests Himself (specially) in the night of mid-Sha’ban and forgives all of His creation except the polytheists and the envious.’ (Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1390)
What is jealousy?
Seeing someone’s good or progress and wishing for its extinction is called envy or violence, which is not permissible. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Do not hate each other. Don’t be jealous. Don’t plot. Don’t break the relationship. All of you become servants of Allah and brothers.’ (Bukhari, Hadith: 6076)
But seeing someone’s good or progress without wishing for its extinction and trying to achieve it is called gibat or jealousy, which is encouraged. Iblis Satan was driven out of Adam (A.S.) without prostrating due to jealousy and pride. As Adam’s son Abel’s sacrifice was accepted, Cain became the first unjust murderer by murdering him in a fit of rage. The brothers of Yusuf (A.S.) were jealous and condemned him by throwing him into the well. Apart from this, countless people are suffering from the disease of violence and are involved in various crimes.
The hypocrite’s nature is to envy. Out of jealousy they resent the progress of the believers. It has been said, ‘When you (believers) receive any good, they are displeased. And they are happy when you have any misfortune.’ (Surah Al-Imran, verse 120)
The nature of a true believer is to wish for the welfare of others, and to refrain from wishing for harm. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘None of you can be a true believer until he likes for his brother what he likes for himself.’ (Bukhari, Hadith: 13)
Violence and faith do not go together
A full believer will not have envy in his heart, a jealous person will not have full faith in his heart. A full believer is never jealous, a jealous person is never a full believer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Iman and hatred cannot coexist in the heart of a servant.’ (Nasa’i, Hadith: 3109)
Envy is the destroyer of dualism
Rasulullah (SAW) said, ‘The disease of the ummah before you has also infected you. That is mutual hatred and hatred. And this disease causes baldness. I’m not saying, shave the hair; Rather, it destroys two worlds.’ (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2510)
Envy is the destroyer of virtue
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘You must avoid violence. For as fire consumes wood or grass, so envy consumes the good deeds of man.’ (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 4903)
Envious objectors to the fate of others
Allah Almighty gives the blessing to whomever He bestows by His grace and will. He gives what is in his destiny. To be jealous of someone’s order is a synonym for objecting to destiny or fate. It has been said, ‘…Do they envy the people for what Allah has given them by His grace?’ (Surah Nisa, verse 54)
Who is the best man?
Narrated by Abdullah Ibn Amr (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) was once asked who is the best person? He said, ‘Every pure hearted and truthful person.’ People said, we can recognize a truthful person. But who has a pure heart? He replied, ‘He is God-fearing. Possessing a pure heart that has no sin. There is no bias. No hatred, no jealousy.’ (Ibn Majah, Hadith: 4216)
The glad tidings of Jannah to the non-violence person
Anas Ibn Malek (RA) said, We were sitting with Rasulullah (SAW). At that time he said, ‘Now a man of paradise will come to you.’ Then a man from the Ansar came. The azure water was dripping from his beard and he had a pair of shoes in his left hand. On the second day and on the third day, the Prophet (PBUH) said the same thing, and the same person came later. Then when the Prophet (PBUH) rose from the Majlis, Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibnil AS (RA) followed him. …Anas (RA) said, Abdullah Ibn Amr (RA) said, I spend three nights in his house. But I did not see him get up for prayer at night, except for ablution for Fajr. But I always heard him speak well. When three days and three nights passed like this, I began to think little of his activities. I then said to that person, Rasool (PBUH) said this about you and I have been seeing you for the past three days. But you did not see any great deeds! So what has brought you to that place, the good news of which the Messenger of God (PBUH) has told us? He said, You have seen what I do. Then when I turned my back to leave, he called me and said, ‘What you have seen, you have seen. But I do not harbor any hatred in my heart towards any Muslim and I do not harbor enmity towards anyone because of any goodness given by Allah.’ Hearing this, Abdullah Ibn Amr (RA) said, ‘This is what has brought you to that level. This is something we cannot do.’ (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 12697). May Allah cure everyone from the disease of violence. Amen You have seen it. Amen
