POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 19, 2022: After being closed for almost two years due to the Corona epidemic, train services are finally being started on the Bangladesh-India route. Besides, three trains of Dhaka-Kolkata route will also run from June 1.
This information was given by the Ministry of Railways of Bangladesh on Wednesday.
According to the authorities, Indian Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will visit Bangladesh next month.
During his visit, Maitri Express, Bondhan Express and New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka Mitali Express will resume operations between the two countries.
Prior to the epidemic, the Maitri Express used to run five days a week on the Dhaka-Kolkata route and the Bondhan Express on the Khulna-Kolkata route two weeks in a row. But they are closed due to Corona’s wrath.
When the two trains were launched, Bangladesh and India provided one rack each. India has given rack to the latest Mitali Express. In March 2021, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated the Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri route train.
