POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 5, 2022 : US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said he is confident Ukraine can win the war against Russia. However, he did not say how long the fight would last. But he insisted that Ukraine’s defeat was not inevitable.
The US Secretary of State praised the “extraordinary vitality” of the Ukrainian people.
He says that if Moscow intends to overthrow the Ukrainian government in any way, it will establish a puppet regime in power; 45 million Ukrainians are going to reject it in one way or another.
He added that the fighting had not already taken place as planned by Russian President Vladimir Putin. (Russia in Ukraine) Tough resistance from Ukrainian forces on the ninth day of the attack has hampered the advance of Russian troops in the country.
In southern Ukraine, Russian forces have occupied areas along the Black Sea coast and besieged the port city of Mariupol. However, the governor of Mikolaev said Russian troops had been driven out of the city.
Russian forces have also laid siege to the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said Friday that Russian troops were about to enter another nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the Russian attackers were just 20 miles from Ukraine’s second-largest nuclear power plant on Friday. They were moving in that direction.
The ambassador is believed to have referred to the Yuzhukrensk power plant a couple of miles south of Kiev.
