US President Donald Trump invites Indian PM Modi to the White House next week

Trump spoke to Modi on January 27. That day, he discussed immigration. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of India buying more US-made security equipment and free bilateral trade relations.
India is a strategic partner of the United States in confronting China. New Delhi is keen to strengthen trade relations with the United States. The Indian government is also keen to make it easier for its citizens to obtain US skilled worker visas.
In addition, India wants to avoid the threat that Trump has made in the past to impose high tariffs on goods imported from the United States. After taking office for a new term, Trump has already announced additional tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada.
