POBNEWS24, Dhaka Feb 4, 2025 : US President Donald Trump has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House next week. A White House official has given this information.
Trump spoke to Modi on January 27. That day, he discussed immigration. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of India buying more US-made security equipment and free bilateral trade relations.
India is a strategic partner of the United States in confronting China. New Delhi is keen to strengthen trade relations with the United States. The Indian government is also keen to make it easier for its citizens to obtain US skilled worker visas.
In addition, India wants to avoid the threat that Trump has made in the past to impose high tariffs on goods imported from the United States. After taking office for a new term, Trump has already announced additional tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada.
The United States is India’s largest trading partner. Trade between the two countries exceeded $118 billion in the 2023-24 fiscal year. During this time, India exported $32 billion more goods to the country than it imported from the United States.
