POBNEWS24, Dhaka July 13, 2023 : US Undersecretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Civilian People’s Security Uzra Jaya met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The meeting was held at Ganabhaban on Thursday (July 13) morning.
US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and US Agency for International Development (USAID) Asia Bureau Deputy Assistant Administrator Anjali Kaur were present on the occasion.
It is said that during the meeting, various issues including upcoming national elections, human rights, refugee situation were discussed between the two sides.
A US delegation led by Uzra Jaya arrived in Dhaka last Tuesday (July 11) evening for a four-day visit. Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen welcomed Uzra at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. After the tour, the delegation is scheduled to leave Dhaka tomorrow Friday (July 14) morning. However, Donald Lu is scheduled to stay in Dhaka for a few more hours.
During the visit, the US delegation is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen, Law Minister Anisul Haque, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Prime Minister’s Private Sector Adviser Salman F Rahman. Apart from this, the US delegation can meet civil society representatives, labor leaders and others on their own.
