Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks while addressing the nation’s highest national civilian award ‘Swadhinata Puraskar-2022’ between nine eminent persons and two organizations on Thursday. The Prime Minister distributed the award while attending a function at her Tejgaon office.
The Prime Minister noted the success of her government in keeping the wheel of Bangladesh’s economy afloat despite the global economic downturn and food crisis in the country due to Kavid-19. He said: But in many countries of the world, they do not promote the issue of food crisis. Although not publicized, we know that there has been a massive food crisis in many developed countries. Many of those who wander around the world have also fallen below the poverty line. Considering this, we have been able to continue the pace of development of Bangladesh despite the corona. The Prime Minister thanked her colleagues and concerned persons for their hard work and success. The Prime Minister handed over the award to the two freedom fighters
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday handed over the country’s highest national civilian honor ‘Swadhinata Puraskar-2022’ to 9 eminent persons and two organizations. Sheikh Hasina came down from the stage and handed over the award to two freedom fighters Sirajuddin Ahmed and Abdul Jalil.
In addition to the heroic freedom fighter Ilyas Ahmed Chowdhury (posthumous), martyr Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda (Birbikram), Mohammad Sahiuddin Biswas and Sirajul Haque (posthumous) have received awards in the ‘Freedom and Liberation War’ category for their outstanding contribution to the war of independence and liberation. Professor Dr. received the award for ‘Medicine’. Kanak Kanti Barua and Professor. Md. Kamrul Islam and the late architect Syed Moinul Hossain received the Independence Award in the ‘Architecture’ category. Apart from this, in the ‘Mujib Year’ Bangladesh was awarded the Independence Award in the ‘Research and Training’ category to the Department of Power and the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute for their achievements in 100% electrification.
Each recipient is presented with a gold medal, a certificate and an honorary check. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present on the occasion. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam conducted the function and brief biographies of the winners of ‘Swadhinata Puraskar Padak-2022’ were read out.
