POBNEWS24, Dhaka Feb 11, 2023 : The Syrian volunteer organization ‘White Helmets’ has announced that its rescue operation to find survivors trapped in the rubble of the earthquake in the rebel-held areas of northern and northwestern Syria has ended.
The organization said they believe that after 108 hours, the people trapped under the rubble are no longer alive. But now the search is on for the bodies trapped under the collapsed building.
They also said, ‘Our teams worked for 108 hours in more than 40 towns and villages in northwestern Syria. Around 479 residential buildings were completely destroyed and more than 1,48 buildings were partially destroyed.’
Many of the dead were women and children in the worst-hit areas, including the cities of Jindires and Haram in northern Syria.
