POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Sep 20, 2022 : After the legal notice to the government to stop the export of hilsa to India, the lawyer of the Supreme Court Mahmudul Hassan.has filed a writ in the High Court today.
Mahmudul Hasan filed a public interest writ petition in the High Court on Tuesday challenging the government’s decision on the export of hilsa to India.
In the writ, it has been asked to know why the inaction of the defendants in stopping the export of hilsa to India at a low price should not be declared illegal.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce has been made defendant in the writ petition.
The lawyer said in his application that the Ministry of Commerce has allowed the export of hilsa without considering the needs of the people of Bangladesh.
Earlier on September 11, this lawyer sent a legal notice to the government to stop the export of hilsa to India. The notice was sent to the four secretaries of the government and the chairman of three organizations.
In a notice given to the Commerce Secretary, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary, Foreign Secretary, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Chief Controller of Import and Export Department and Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, the lawyer said to take action if the export of hilsa to India is not permanently stopped within seven days. A writ will be filed in the High Court.
