POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Jan 9, 2024 : “The national election was not fair” about the statements of the United States and the United Kingdom, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdul Momen said that we are not worried about them.
All the countries termed Bangladesh’s election as fair and beautiful, he said.
He observed this to reporters after the briefing of domestic and foreign diplomats at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday (January 9) afternoon.
Regarding the statement of Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US State Department about the election, the foreign minister said, “They have said that the election has been accepted.” They said that there were some clashes before the elections. We will maintain the relationship they have with us. However, the issue of human rights that they talked about is a dynamic issue. There is no end to it. We are working on the issues.
The minister said that the election was transparent and fair. But whether there was any technical error, foreign observers have seen it. I have seen many elections in Bangladesh. I think this election is an ideal election.
Regarding today’s programme with diplomats, Momen said, “We have not had any meeting with foreign ambassadors and representatives for many days. Because we were busy with the election campaign for a long time. This event is about meeting and having fun with everyone.
He said, I am expecting good cooperation and partnership with all countries in the New Year. Through this process we can reach our own goals. We can build a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh. Hopefully, we cannot achieve these without partnerships and collaborative relationships.
