POBNEWS24,Dhaka, Novr 29, 2024 : When ISKCON’s controversial Hindu scholar Chinmoy Krishna Das was produced in the Chittagong court the day after his arrest on November 25, the state rejected his bail application and sent him to jail. The court premises became heated and Chinmoy’s supporters killed a lawyer from Chittagong under the banner of Hindu Jagran Mancha. The entire Bangladesh was in a heated situation, which has brought diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and India to a standstill.
On Thursday, some hardline Hindu organizations set fire to the Bangladesh flag at the Indian embassy in Kolkata and broke the security cordon and entered the premises, and on Friday, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry sent a press note expressing strong protest and condemnation over the incident. The press note called on the Indian government to ensure the security of all officials and employees of the embassy and vice-ambassadors in India. It is worth noting that on August 5, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina fled the country to India and is currently seeking refuge in the Modi government there.
On Tuesday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that while the perpetrators of the attacks on minorities are out of reach, a religious leader has been arrested after he spoke out against these injustices. The statement called for ensuring the security of all minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh and ensuring freedom of expression. This statement from India further heated up Bangladesh, which is still ongoing. On Friday, several organizations held a protest rally against India in front of the National Press Club and called for the banning of ISKCON in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the Ameer of the Islamic Movement, Mufti Faizul Karim, said in a very strong language in a public meeting today that the citizens of Bangladesh will confront any attempt to cause bloodshed or religious hysteria in India and Bangladesh.
