POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 16, 2024 : On the occasion of Great Victory Day, a courtesy call between high-ranking officers of Bangladesh and Indian Army was held at Akhaura-Agartala Integrated Checkpost. On behalf of Bangladesh Army, GOC 33 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Comilla Area Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, NDU, AFWC, psc and Chief of Staff, 101 Area Major General Sumit Rana were present on behalf of Indian Army. 3 Staff Officers and 1 Captain-level BGB officer were present on the occasion as members of the Bangladesh team. Similarly, 3 officers of Indian Army and Captain-level BSF officers were present. Representatives of both countries exchanged courtesy calls and gifts.
It is to be noted here that such courtesy calls are customary between both countries on important national days like 16th December, Pohela Baishakh. Today’s brief courtesy call was held in continuation of this in the morning.
