POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Oct 10, 2026 : Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Zahir Uddin Swapan has called on all pro-democracy forces in the country to unite and implement the parliamentary system to make the achieved democracy meaningful and sustainable.
He said, “The democracy achieved in exchange for the blood of martyrs must be completed through an effective parliament.”
He said these things while speaking as a special guest at a memorial meeting organized by the Shaheed Jihad Smriti Parishad for the 90s anti-dictatorship movement at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium of the National Press Club on Saturday afternoon.
BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed spoke as the chief guest at the program chaired by Shaheed Jihad Smriti Parishad President Amanullah Aman.
MP Mostafizur Rahman Babul, MP Shirin Sultana, former MP Nazimuddin Alam, Habibur Rahman Habib, Khandaker Lutfar Rahman also spoke at the memorial meeting.
BNP Joint Secretary General and MP Khairul Kabir Khokon moderated the meeting.
Zahir Uddin Swapan said that the main profession of political activists is not only movement or struggle, but also fulfilling the fundamental rights of the people of the country.
Recalling the sacrifices of martyrs Jihad, Abu Sayeed and Mughad, he said that there is no alternative to implementing the 31-point plan announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to free the country from the clutches of fascism and form a modern and science-oriented state.
The Prime Minister’s political advisor said that Bangladesh must accelerate in the era of artificial intelligence and information technology in line with the world. The main responsibility of the state and political workers is now to form an effective parliament and mobilize the national economy to implement the blood pledge of the martyrs, rather than being confined to the history of movement and sacrifice.
He also said that the 31-point manifesto announced by Tarique Rahman contains clear guidelines to eliminate fascism and build a modern democratic Bangladesh, which will give a sustainable form to the achieved democracy.
