POBNEWS24, Desk report Dhaka Mar 11, 2025 : The cultural ties between Bangladesh and Turkey are strengthening. As part of diplomatic activities, the Honorary Consulate of Bangladesh in Konya Province has been organizing various cultural programs in collaboration with the historic municipality of Beyşehir, Konya. These initiatives center around Bangla language education, a celebration of Bangladesh’s national flower-the water lily, and culinary cultural exchanges. The Konya Consulate recently awarded certificates to 50 individuals from Beyşehir Municipality who completed an online Bangla language course. Furthermore, Mayor Mr. Adil Bayındır of Beyşehir has declared the second week of June as “Bangladesh Water Lily Day.” This announcement was made last year in the presence of Bangladesh’s ambassador to Turkey and Bangladeshi expatriates living there.
Building on the brotherly diplomatic relations between the two countries, Konya in Turkey and Sylhet in Bangladesh were declared sister cities a few years ago.
