POBNEWS24, Dhaka May 11, 2025 : The Awami League said in a press release that the people of Bengal are shocked and angry at the announcement by the illegal and unconstitutional occupying fascist Yunus government to ban the activities of the Awami League. The day will be marked as a black day in the history of Bangladesh.
The undemocratic fascist Yunus government, which has no mandate from the people, has banned the activities of the Awami League, the party under whose leadership Bangladesh was established as an independent and sovereign state, in the independent country today. This has proven that the fascist Yunus government wants to turn the soil of Bengal into a fertile ground for anti-liberation evil forces and extremist groups. Banning the activities of the Awami League in the soil of Bengal means banning the spirit, ideology and fundamentals of the Liberation War and giving a platform to the naked rebellion of the anti-liberationists.
“We reject this decision of the fascist dictator Yunus government with hatred and strongly condemn and protest against it. At the same time, we express our firm commitment that Bangladesh Awami League will continue to conduct its activities properly, ignoring this decision of the fascist Yunus government.”
Bangladesh Awami League is the oldest and traditional political organization in this territory for 75 years and an institution of trust of the masses. Bangladesh Awami League has played a leading role in all the great achievements of the Bengali nation, including the establishment of the demand for language and independence. It has led the movement to realize all the democratic rights of the people of Bengal. Bangladesh Awami League is associated with the history and existence of Bangladesh. Wanting to ban the activities of Awami League means denying the history and tradition of Bangladesh.
Only anti-national and anti-liberation evil forces can take such a decision.
The people have rejected this decision of the illegal and unconstitutional fascist Yunus government without the mandate of the people, which is weighing on the shoulders of the state like a rock, with hatred and the people of Bengal will continue to be vocal in support of the Awami League by trampling on this decision. Because, the Awami League is always uncompromising in achieving the rights of the people of Bengal. Therefore, the people’s alliance with the Awami League is genuine and pure. Along with this, we will call on democratic states and institutions in the international arena and leaders who believe in democratic norms to condemn this vile decision of the illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic Yunus government. This fascist government has taken this decision in an attempt to suppress the freedom of speech of the people to consolidate its illegal power. This group, which has seized power by force through conspiracy, has no respect for democratic norms and they do not believe in the transfer of power through elections. Since illegally seizing power, this fascist Yunus government has been taking one anti-people decision after another by force. In which not only the democratic culture of Bangladesh is being hindered, but also the lives and livelihoods of the people are facing extreme threat. Ignoring the bloodthirsty eyes of fascism, the Bangladesh Awami League has always been, is and will always be vocal in establishing the security of the lives and livelihoods of the people and the security of their lives and property. Therefore, it is natural that the anti-people government will consider the Awami League an enemy. However, the Awami League is the name of the feelings cherished and flowing in the hearts of the people of Bengal. When the pulse of these feelings connects with each other, any impenetrable wall of tyranny will collapse under its vibration. We firmly believe that the people of Bengal will give a befitting reply to this unpopular decision of the fascist Yunus government. In addition, there will be an open call to the leaders and activists of the Awami League to build all-out resistance against this decision that is alienating the people and uncoordinated.
It is worth noting that in the wake of the students’ Shahbagh movement, a special emergency meeting of the Advisory Council decided on Saturday that all Awami League activities will be banned until the trial is over. Along with this, it has been decided to ban the activities of the Awami League until the trial is over at the International Crimes Tribunal.
Asif Nazrul told reporters at a briefing in front of the Jamuna around 11 pm after the Advisory Council meeting. At that time, he read out a written statement.
It said that the amendment to the International Crimes Tribunal Act was approved at the special meeting of the Advisory Council. According to the amendment, the International Crimes Tribunal will be able to punish any political party, its affiliates or support groups.
In the meeting of the Advisory Council, it was decided to ban all activities of the Awami League, including cyberspace, under the Anti-Terrorism Act until the trial of the Bangladesh Awami League and its leaders at the International Crimes Tribunal is completed, in order to protect the security and sovereignty of the country, the safety of the leaders and activists of the July Movement, and the protection of the plaintiffs and witnesses of the International Crimes Tribunal.
