The main slogan of the program is ‘Motherland, estuary, will not give to foreigners’.
The two-day road march program began in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday morning under the banner of a platform called ‘Anti-Imperialist Patriotic People’, formed by leftist parties and organizations of the country. After the rally on the way, the convoy of the road march reached the Chittagong port area on Saturday.
The road march demanded that ‘not hand over the management of Chittagong Port to foreigners, stop the initiative to involve Bangladesh in the imperialist war cycle through Starlink and corridor, publish the agreements signed with all previous governments with hegemonic countries and cancel the agreements against national interests’.
The leaders and activists participating in the road march held placards with various slogans. These included ‘Interim government, guardian of imperialism’, ‘We will not give the port-corridor to foreigners’, ‘Chittagong Port will not be handed over to foreigners’, ‘Cancel all unequal agreements against national interests’, ‘Stand up against all imperialist hegemony including the US and India’ – etc. Slogans. More than a thousand people participated in the program.
Earlier in the morning, processions and gatherings were held in Feni. There, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) General Secretary Ruhin Hossain (Prince) presented four demands of the road march program. They are that the management of Chittagong Port, including New Mooring, should not be handed over to foreigners, it should be managed under state responsibility, the conspiracy to provide a corridor in Rakhine should be stopped, initiatives to involve Bangladesh in the imperialist war cycle through Starlink, arms factories, and corridors should be stopped, all agreements signed during the tenure of all previous governments with ‘imperialist hegemonic countries’ including the US and India should be published, and the Assam Agreement that is against national interests should be canceled.
In Feni, Ruhin Hossain said, ‘We believe that the aspirations of the mass uprising and the liberation war of 24 are aspirations for democracy, hegemony and anti-imperialist aspirations. The mass uprising cannot be disputed in any way. The hill people cannot be oppressed, discrimination cannot be created in the country in any way, we are all united to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh. We pay tribute to all the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in various movements in the past. Our anti-imperialist movement has been going on for a long time.’ Ruhin Hossain further said, ‘Chittagong Port is an important national asset of the country. It is the driving force and heart of the country’s economy. We hope that the interim government, in continuation of the previous government, will back down from the work they are trying to do, including granting port leases. And we will not have to give any larger program at the end of today’s road march regarding this. But if the government does not fulfill this responsibility, then we will give a larger program of the movement immediately after reading the declaration from the closing rally.’
