POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 18, 2025 : In Bangladesh, 4 GR cases have been filed at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station over the clash between law enforcement agencies and protesters under the ‘July Warrior’ banner on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital over the signing of the July Charter.
The plaintiff in all the cases is the police. In one of these cases, the plaintiff is a traffic sergeant. The plaintiff in the remaining three cases is Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. All the accused in the cases are unidentified. About 800 to 900 people have been named as unidentified accused in the cases. So far, one person has been arrested in the case. His name is Rimon Chandra Barman.
On Saturday, DMP’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emaul Haque confirmed these information.
He said that four cases have been filed so far in Friday’s incident. Out of the four, one case was filed by a traffic policeman as the plaintiff. The remaining three cases were filed by the police station as the plaintiff. The cases include terrorists, miscreants, miscreants, damage-makers, saboteurs and people with fascist ideology. 800 to 900 people have been accused of unknown identities. Out of the four cases, one case alleges forced entry into a protected area. The others are cases of attack on police, vandalism of vehicles and burning of control rooms.
It is worth noting that on Friday, a group of people protested on Manik Mia Avenue under the banner of ‘July Fighters’ demanding the inclusion of their three demands in the July Charter. Later, around 1:30 pm, a clash began between the police and the protesters stationed at Gate No. 12 of the Parliament Building. A section of the protesters was already stationed in front of the Parliament Building. The section inside the Parliament Building joined the venue.
At one stage, the section outside broke through Gate No. 12 of the Parliament Building and entered. Later, the section inside came out. At this time, the protesters threw bottles and chairs at the police. The clash began after that.
In several clashes, the police tried to disperse the protesters by throwing sound grenades and tear gas shells. On the other hand, the protesters continued their protest by setting fire to the road and throwing bricks and stones. During this, several police vehicles were vandalized. Some people were injured in the clashes.
