POBNEWS24, Dhaka Dec 19, 2025 : A program was scheduled to be held at Shahbagh in Dhaka after the death of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, the chief coordinator of the July fighters, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch, but it was postponed by Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam over fears that it could turn into sabotage. Instead, a protest march will be held from Bangla Motor at 4 pm in protest.
He said this in a statement around Friday afternoon.
Nahid said, exercise maximum caution in any program after Friday prayers. The anti-July forces have plans to vandalize and sabotage like Thursday. We are against any kind of violence and sabotage.
Play your role in preventing any stubborn group from using the anger of the people to vandalize, set fire or carry out any destructive activities anywhere.
Meanwhile, Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) in the northern region, wrote in a post on his verified Facebook ID, “Exercise utmost caution in any program after the Jumma prayers. The anti-July forces have plans to vandalize and sabotage like yesterday. We are against any kind of violence and sabotage.” Sarjis said, “Play your role so that no stubborn group can use the anger of the people to vandalize, set fire to or carry out any destructive activities anywhere.” Considering the overall situation in Dhaka, our Shahbag sit-in program after Jumma has been postponed. Instead, a protest procession will be organized from Bangla Motor at 4 pm. We request everyone to participate.” On the other hand, Dhaka University Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Md. Abidul Islam Khan has called for stopping the planned anti-state mobocracy. He made this call in a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday. In the post, Abidul Islam wrote, ‘Hey young people! This Bangladesh is mine, yours. Definitely stop the planned anti-state mobocracy. Discourage it. The already fallen dictatorship is rejoicing. What they want happened on Thursday night. At least understand this now.’
He said, ‘Dear Bangladeshis, be extremely vigilant and play a responsible role.’
Earlier, when the news of Hadi’s death spread on Thursday night, hundreds of students gathered in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s Square and Raju Statue of Dhaka University. A large procession led by DUCSU reached Shahbagh and joined the ongoing movement.
Expressing solidarity with the movement, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam, former advisors Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam, and leaders of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti participated in the protest.
On Friday, prayers were offered in all cantonment mosques in Dhaka and Bangladesh for the peace of Hadi’s soul.
It is worth noting that on December 12, terrorists from a moving motorcycle in the Purana Paltan area of the capital shot Osman Hadi, who was in a rickshaw. He was seriously injured. Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent surgery and later admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. From there, he was taken to Singapore on Monday for advanced treatment, where he died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment.
