POBNEWS24 Dhaka, Dec 31, 2025 : Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has arrived in Dhaka to pay his last respects to former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. S Jaishankar arrived in Dhaka on a special Indian Air Force flight at around 11:30 am on Wednesday.
When Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar arrived at the Bangladesh Air Force’s Bashar base, he was welcomed by Foreign Ministry Secretary (Intergovernmental Organizations and Consular Affairs) M Farhad Hossain.
The arrival of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to pay his respects to Khaleda Zia is not just a formality of expressing condolences, it is also a clear diplomatic message. In South Asian politics, India indicates the future through symbolic steps. Through this visit, India has made it clear that it is actively monitoring the upcoming elections and the balance of power in Bangladesh. India’s interest in BNP, succession politics and possible political changes is visible here. This is silent diplomacy, but the message is quite loud.
