POBNEWS24,Benapole June 1, 2026 : Import-export has resumed between India-Bangladesh’s Petrapole-Benapole after the seven-day Eid holiday. Import-export activities between the two countries resumed from Monday morning. About 3,000 workers have joined work at Benapole Port since morning to load and unload goods at the port. As a result, activity has returned to both sides.
Earlier, import-export was closed at Benapole Port for seven consecutive days from May 25 to May 31 during the Eid holiday. However, despite the import-export closure, passport passenger travel between the two countries was normal like other days.
Alhaj Mohsin Milon, President of the Benapole Port Import-Exporters Association, said that activity has returned to the port with the resumption of import-export activities. Traders, C&F agents, port and customs officials and workers are busy unloading goods. Due to the long holiday, there has been a goods jam on both sides of the border. As import-export activities and goods unloading have started from this morning, the goods jam will start decreasing.
According to the port information, import-export activities started from 9 am on Monday. Till 10:30 am, 28 trucks of goods were imported from India and 11 trucks of goods were exported to India.
Benapole Port Director Shamim Hossain said that import-export trade was closed at Benapole Port during the Eid holidays. No goods were imported from India during this time. Import-export trade between the two countries has started again after the holiday on Monday. All the port officials and employees who went on holiday have joined their workplaces. Instructions have been given to all concerned so that traders can quickly unload imported goods from the port.
Petrapole ICP Manager Kamlesh Seini said that after a seven-day closure, the port has returned to life. Trade between the two countries has resumed.
