MAWTS and WaterAid Bangladesh Sign MoU to Strengthen Sanitation Innovation

POBNEWS24, Dhaka, 26 July 2026 : MAWTS (Mirpur Agricultural Workshop and Training School) and WaterAid Bangladesh formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership for advancing Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) technologies, capacity building, and advocacy for safely managed sanitation in Bangladesh. The partnership aims to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.2 through innovation, skills development, and strengthened sector collaboration.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both organizations. The WaterAid Bangladesh delegation was led by Ms. Hasin Jahan, Country Director, accompanied by three other officials. The MAWTS delegation was led by Mr. James Gomes, Director, together with members of the MAWTS Management Team.
Under this three-year collaboration, MAWTS and WaterAid Bangladesh will work jointly to develop and promote context-appropriate FSM technologies, establish standardized training and certification programmes, strengthen the technical capacity of sanitation professionals and entrepreneurs, enhance VACUTUG operation and maintenance practices, and support policy dialogue and knowledge sharing for improved sanitation services across Bangladesh.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of both organizations expressed their commitment to combining technical expertise, innovation, and institutional capacity to create sustainable sanitation solutions that improve public health, protect the environment, and strengthen Bangladesh’s sanitation sector.
The MoU reflects the shared vision of MAWTS and WaterAid Bangladesh to foster innovation, build skilled human resources, and accelerate the country’s progress towards safely managed sanitation through collaborative action.
