POBNEWS24,Dhaka Jan 1, 2022:  The people of the country welcomed the Christian New Year with joy and excitement in the hope of new possibilities after a hard time in Corona. In the early hours of 2022 AD, the capital Dhaka was ablaze with lanterns and fireworks. Residents of buildings across the city joined the students of Dhaka University in celebrating the dam. They gathered on the roof of a multi-storey building and flew fireworks and lanterns.

Before and after the last sunset of 2021, a large number of people gathered in the area of ​​Student-Teacher Center (TSC) of Dhaka University, but due to the direction of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), other than the teachers-students and staff of the university had to leave in the evening. There were police checkpoints at the entrances of the university. As a result, the university area became much more empty than usual

As soon as the clock reached 12 o’clock, the students gathered at the foot of the Raju sculpture of TSC and gathered in front of it and blew lanterns. At the same time fireworks were thrown from the gate adjacent to the TSC of Suhrawardy Udyan. The TSC area was illuminated by fireworks.

At this time fireworks were set off all over the city. Although they could not gather in the open under the direction of the police, the city dwellers welcomed the new year by taking position on the roof of their building.

Rabiul Islam, a student of the Department of Population Sciences, Dhaka University, who took part in the TSC celebrations, told Prothom Alo: Hopefully, the new year will bring all-round good for our country and university, all the filth will be washed away. ‘

On the occasion of the Christian New Year, the President wished the country. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They have given separate messages on the occasion of New Year.

The President hoped that Bangladesh would move forward on the path of immense potential in the new year. In the message, he said, corona infection in Bangladesh is now under control. However, there is no substitute for caution in the face of the spread of new highly contagious strains of corona worldwide. He urged the people to observe the New Year in accordance with the rules of health, keeping in mind that the happiness of one should not be the cause of sadness of others.

In her message, the Prime Minister wished to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among the people, remove all crises and bring inexhaustible happiness, peace and prosperity in the new year to build a prosperous and golden Bangladesh of non-communal consciousness in the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
