POBNEWS24, Desk Report, Feb 8, 2022 : A leaked report by the Nepalese government has accused China of occupying Nepalese territory along the two countries’ borders. This is the first time that Nepal has formally demanded Chinese intervention in its territory.
Work on the report began last September after claims that China was infiltrating the Humla district in Nepal’s far west.
The Chinese embassy in Kathmandu denied that there was any occupation.
The Nepalese government did not respond to a BBC question until at least Tuesday morning.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. But the Nepalese government has improved relations with China in recent years, hoping to balance its relations with its huge southern neighbor India.
The report’s findings could put pressure on this growing relationship with Beijing.
China’s border with Nepal is about 1400 miles long along the Himalayas. It was established in the early 1970’s through a series of agreements signed between the two countries.
This border extends from east to west along the northern tip of the Nepalese territory. The whole of the territory north of Nepal belongs to China, the other three to Indian territory.
