BJP leader objects to Shah Rukh’s ‘munajat’ in Latar Shire

POBNEWS24, Desk Report, Feb 8, 2022 : Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral prayer for Bollywood ‘King’ Shah Rukh Khan went viral on the internet yesterday. Standing in front of the body of the legendary singer, Shah Rukh offered munajat in the Muslim style to pay his respects, while his manager Pooja Dadlani was praying in the Hindu style with folded hands. The photographer captures the two in one frame. Seeing such an example of religious harmony, many people irrespective of religion, caste and creed have been praised.

While many have praised the film, some have found it controversial. Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] leader Arun Yadav publicly asked on Twitter if Khan Saheb had not ‘disrespected’ Surasamrajni in the name of prayer. His suspicion, Bollywood actor Lata standing in front of the last bed spit! The BJP leader from Haryana shared a video of Shah Rukh’s munajat on Twitter and asked, “Did he spit?” After the munajat, Shah Rukh was blowing on both sides. Seeing this, Arun Yadav thought so.
In response to Arun’s tweet, many have made anti-Shah Rukh remarks. Some even said that the Bollywood superstar has disrespected Lata in the name of paying homage to her. Shah Rukh, however, did not comment on any photo or video.

This picture is a great example of religious harmony.

However, Shah Rukh fans have explained there. Criticizing Arun Yadav, they said that in Islam, there is a custom of blowing after munajat. It is used symbolically to ward off evil spirits. Shah Rukh has done just that. The late artist was not disrespected in any way.
