POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Feb 16,2022: After legend Lata Mangeshkar and Sandhya Mukherjee, Indian singer, composer and music director Bappi Lahiri has passed away. He died at a private hospital in Mumbai at midnight on Tuesday. He was 69 years old. NDTV reports these news.
Deepak Namjoshi, director of Criticare Hospital in Mumbai, told PTI that Bappi Lahiri had been in the hospital for a month. He returned home after being released from the hospital last Monday. The next day, a doctor was called to the house by his family when his condition deteriorated. Bappi Lahiri died of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) shortly before midnight yesterday.
Bappi Lahiri was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with coronavirus in April last year. Within a few days, however, he recovered.
Bappi Lahiri rose to prominence in the late 1970’s and 80’s by singing in a number of Bollywood films, including ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Disco Dancer’ and ‘Sharabi’. Since then he has sung in numerous Hindi and Bengali movies. His last song in Bollywood was ‘Vankas’ from the movie ‘Baghi-3’ in 2020.
Bappi Lahiri was last seen on screen with Salman Khan. He took part in the popular Hindi reality show ‘Bigg Boss-15’ presented by Salman Khan to promote his grandson Swastik’s new song ‘Bachcha Party’.
Bappi Lahiri was born on 26 November 1952 in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, India. Another name of Bappi Lahiri is Alkesh.
