POBNEWS24, Dhaka, May 16, 2022 : Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and President of Spain Pedro Sanchez exchanged greetings on the occasion of the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Spain.
This information has been given in a notification sent from the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid on Sunday (May 15) night.
According to the embassy, in the message, President Pedro praised the socio-economic development of Bangladesh achieved under the wise and far-sighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and its responsible, active and visible role in the regional and international arena including the United Nations.
He praised Bangladesh’s unwavering support and commitment to the multilateral world policy stated in the joint declaration “Together for a Reinforced Multilateralism” adopted in Madrid in 2020 on the occasion of the 65th founding anniversary of the United Nations. .
Spain is currently the fourth largest export destination in Bangladesh. Spanish entrepreneurs and investors are showing growing interest in expanding their presence in Bangladesh.
Pedro Sanchez expressed confidence that Spain would work closely with Bangladesh as a close partner to increase the scope and diversity of trade and to exploit the immense potential of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina recalled her bilateral meeting with the President of Spain on the sidelines of COP-25 conference held in Madrid in 2019 and expressed hope that in the coming days industrial and technological support, digital connectivity, power and energy, logistics and transport infrastructure development, climate change Mutual cooperation in the fields of co-operation, education, culture and research will be further expanded.
The daughter of Bangabandhu also called for increasing Spanish investment in various promising sectors of Bangladesh. In the message, the Prime Minister invited the President of Spain to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
It may be mentioned that Spain recognized Bangladesh as an independent country on 12 May 1972.
