POBNEWS24, Dhaka June 15, 2022 : Today is the first night. The rainy day started. All water bodies including rivers, canals and beels of riverine Bengal will be filled with water. Shapla-padma and hundreds of anonymous aquatic flowers will bloom in it.

The eyes of the passer-by will be caught in the soft golden green of footsteps and walks. The roar of water-filled clouds on the horizon of rural Bengal will keep the shepherd boy busy. A group of rain-soaked old men gossiping in the grocery store under the boat.

Rain is also the main character in the rainy season of the city. Sudden rain will soak the clothes that are allowed to dry in the sun on the roof. The housewife will cook delicious khichuri in a mixture of pulses and rice. The brides of the river-haor are waiting for the rain water to break and go to the father’s house in a boat.

According to the Bengali calendar, the rainy season starts from the first day of Ashar, but we meet the rain in the months of Baishakh and Jyastha. The rain water blows with the wind of Kalbaishakhi. Due to the effects of climate change, the Bengali season is also showing whimsy nowadays. However, eighty percent of the rainfall in this country is still in the two months of Ashar-Shravan, i.e. in the rainy season. The form of rain that has fascinated the poets, writers and artists of this country for ages can be seen only in the rainy season. It is not too late to conquer the mind of rain by overcoming the annoyance of various disturbances in life including movement.

Although the capital Dhaka has been suffering from the scorching heat of summer for a few days, the cool touch of the evening wind yesterday has signaled the coming of Ashar. Soon everything will be cool with heavy rain. However, residents of many cities and towns outside the capital have been seeing rain for a week now. It is raining continuously in many places of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj and Srimangal. It is raining there almost every day. Some days in a regular torrent. The nature of rural Bengal is now dense. Heavy rains are also causing misery for many.

Due to the incessant rains, the surroundings will soon become moist and soft. The fresh green will soften the cosmos of Bengal. In the rainy season, many villages are still exposed to the call of frogs. Rain anklets on tin rice will create Rinijini music. Someone new to music, literature, painting will retain this beauty.

The flowers of this season play a big role in the beauty of the rainy season. In the rainy season, the evergreen leaves will become more dense and deep green. I don’t know if it is because of Rabindranath’s song, Barsha means our favorite flower step. Maybe this monsoon, a lover will hand over the ‘first flower of a rainy day’ to his beloved person. Not only on the shore, but also in the rainy season. Shapla fascinates beauty lovers all over the bill. Now thousands of small tourists from all over the country just to see the rain.

In the song of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, the form of our rainy season and the state of mind of the poet is captured very well. The poet writes, ‘Rimi Jhim Rimi Jhim ঐ Namil Deya / Shuni’ Kadam in the city, Bidare Keya / Jhile Shapla Kamal / Oi Malil Dal / Megh-Andh Gagan, Bandh Kheya / Bari-Dhare Kaande Charidhar Aleya / Kande chakhachakhi, kande bane keka / Deep nibhaye kandi I am alone / Today I remember giving and taking that mind. ‘

In this rainy season of Kadam, Keya, Shapla-Kamal, if there is time and opportunity, you can give a lazy sleep by locking the door. At this time, the mind-giving and taking may also come to mind. ‘It can be said on such a day’, Rabindranath did not say!
