POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Nov 13, 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated ‘Made in Bangladesh Week 2022’. Its aim is to showcase the potential of the country’s garment sector to the world. Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) was inaugurated on Sunday morning with the theme ‘Care for Fashion’. The week-long event will continue till November 18.
The main objective of this event is to promote ‘Made in Bangladesh’. The week-long mega event will provide an opportunity for partners across the global value chain to work together to address global challenges.
After the grand opening, a display zone titled ‘Experience the Transformation of the RMG Towards Sustainability and Innovation’ has also been opened at the Carnival Hall, which will be open till 6 pm.
At the inaugural function, the Prime Minister also unveiled the covers of two coffee table books, on which BGMEA has been working since the beginning of this year. The Prime Minister also presented special awards to four readymade garment manufacturers in recognition of their special contribution to garment exports.
Prime Minister’s Advisor on Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman, International Apparel Federation (IAF) President Sem Altan and BGMEA Senior Vice President SM Mannan Kochi spoke on the occasion. BGMEA President Farooq Hasan delivered the welcome address. Two separate videos on the progress of the country’s garment sector and women’s empowerment were screened at the event.
