POBNEWS24, Dhaka Aug 3, 2023 : The Standing Committee on Textiles and Jute Ministry of Jatiya Sangsad has recommended to the Ministry to present the facts and data of irregularities and corruption in the construction of BJMC Tower in Dilkusha, Dhaka at the next meeting.
The recommendation was made at the committee’s 15th meeting at Parliament House on Thursday (August 3).
Chairman of the committee Mirza Azam chaired the meeting, member Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Shaheen Akhtar and Tamanna Nusrat (Bubli) participated.
In the meeting, the latest reports on the actual and financial progress of the projects undertaken under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute in the last four and a half years and the latest progress of the projects undertaken in the constituencies of the members of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute were discussed in detail. Besides, the latest progress in implementing the recommendations adopted in the previous meeting was also reviewed.
In the meeting, the committee re-recommended to the Ministry to take measures to construct boundary wall with the oral permission of the Deputy Commissioner for the purpose of using five acres of extended land adjacent to Fashion Design Institute of Melandah Upazila of Jamalpur district for sports.
In addition, the member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. The committee congratulated and thanked the committee for handing over the documents aimed at setting up a textile vocational institute in the constituency of Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.
At the beginning of the meeting, all the family members including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Mujib on 15 August 1975, Grenade attack on 21 August 2004, 30 martyrs of the Liberation War, 200,000 mothers and sisters who lost their dignity, four national leaders and all the martyrs in the language movement. Deep respect is paid to their memory by seeking the forgiveness of the soul.
Secretary of Ministry of Textiles and Jute, heads of various departments and organizations along with related officials of Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
