POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Mar 1, 2022 : Speaker Dr. Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rabah Larbi paid a courtesy call on Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. During a meeting at the Speaker’s office in the Parliament House on Tuesday, they discussed the forthcoming meeting of the Executive Committee of the Union Council of OIC Member States, the Fourth Non-Aligned Summit held in Algeria in 1983 and the country’s economic development and trade expansion.
At this time the speaker said. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Fourth Non-Aligned Summit held in Algeria, the capital of the Mediterranean coastal state of Algeria on September 5-9, 1973, called on all to stand together for exploitation to build a non-discriminatory world. As a result, the declaration of the conference included the strong support of non-aligned countries to grant Bangladesh membership of the United Nations.
Since then, Algeria’s relations with Bangladesh have been very strong.
Ambassador Rabah Larbi, on behalf of the Algerian Parliament, invited the delegates of the National Assembly to attend the forthcoming meeting of the 47th Executive Committee of the Union Council of OIC Member States.
Ambassador Rabah Larbi described Bangladesh as one of the most important friendly countries and said that the two countries would continue to work together on issues of mutual interest.
