POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Feb 20,2022: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has conferred ‘Ekushey Padak-2022’ on Sunday morning.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister for Liberation War Affairs AQM Mozammel Haque presented medals to the winners.

The Prime Minister was virtually involved in the event at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital via video conference from Ganobhaban.

State Minister for Culture KM Khalid presided over the function.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam officiated the function. He reads the citations of the medal winners.

Secretary of the Ministry of Culture. Abul Mansoor delivered the welcome address.

According to the policy, each selected winner is given a gold medal, replica and a certificate weighing 35 grams along with a lump sum of Rs 4 lakh.

The government awards the glorious Ekushey Padak every year in memory of the martyrs of the language movement and in keeping with the spirit of Ekushey.

The Ekushey Padak has been awarded since 1986 in recognition of its unique contribution at the national level.

The government has awarded Ekushey Padak to 24 prominent citizens of the country in recognition of their important contribution in various fields.

In recognition of their outstanding contribution in their respective fields, the government on February 3 announced the names of 24 eminent persons for the awarding of ‘Ekushey Padak 2022’.

This year 2 in language movement, 4 in liberation war, 8 in art (art, music and dance), 2 in social service, 2 in language and literature, 4 in research, 1 in journalism, 1 in science and technology and in education. 1 person received the award.

Mostafa MA Matin (posthumous) and Mirza Tofazzal Hossain Mukul (posthumous) received awards in the language movement.

Muktijuddha department got the heroic freedom fighter Md. Matiur Rahman, Ambassador Syed Moazzem Ali (posthumous), QABM Rahman and Amjad Ali Khandaker.

Jinat Barkatullah got in the dance. Music by Nazrul Islam (posthumous), Iqbal Ahmed and Mahmudur Rahman. Starring Khaled Mahmud Khan (posthumous), Afzal Hossain and Masum Aziz.

MA Malek got journalism. Md. Got in science and technology. Anwar Hossain. Professor Gautam Buddha Das received education.

SM Abraham Lincoln and Sangharaj Dr. got in the social service department. Gyanshree Mahathero. Poet Kamal Chowdhury and Jharna Das Purkayastha received the award in the language and literature category.

Emeritus Professor in the research department. Abdus Sattar Mandal, Dr. Md. Enamul Haque (Team Leader), Dr. Shahnaz Sultana (Team) and Dr. Jannatul Ferdous (Team).
