He made the remarks while addressing the inaugural function of the World Conference Series organized by Center for Non-Resident Bangladeshis at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday.
The army chief said, “I have seen in my personal experience that in some countries, people are being brutally shot. Many civilians were killed.
They do not care about human rights. History and documents show that the Bangladesh Army has no record of human rights violations. We are proud of this. This is how we have branded Bangladesh. ‘
The Chief of Army Staff mentioned the commencement of Bangladesh’s mission in the UN peacekeeping mission in 1986. “We’ve been doing very well since the beginning and our participation is growing,” he said. For a long time, Bangladesh has been in the forefront as a participating country. ‘
“For the past one year, we have been the number one country participating in peacekeeping missions since April 2020,” he said. There are more than six and a half thousand members. I am very happy to know that 80 percent of them are members of the Bangladesh Army. “This achievement did not come by chance,” he said. We have had to accept many sacrifices. The Bangladesh Army also performs many duties in the country. By fulfilling these responsibilities, we gain some skills. The members of the army are very organized and at the same time we are humane. “Bangladesh has a positive image in the world for its contribution in various fields,” he said. ‘
