POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 6, 2025 : The new High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives Dr Md Nazmul Islam has presented his letter of credence to Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held at the President’s Office in Male.
The High Commissioner was ceremonially escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional cultural procession, Haiykolhu, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band on Sunday, according to a message received here today.
Following the presentation, President Muizzu and High Commissioner Nazmul exchanged views on the longstanding bonds of friendship between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
They underscored the deep-rooted people-to-people ties and the history of cooperation and support shared by the two nations.
During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues for enhanced collaboration in areas including agriculture, economic development, higher education, and trade and investment.
They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations for mutual benefit.
Diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives were established on September 22, 1978.
