Saraswati Puja is one of the most popular religious festivals in Bangladesh. Everyone’s participation in this festival irrespective of religion, caste and community has added a different dimension to the non-communal consciousness and tradition of the country. Human civilization is gradually evolving through the practice of knowledge.
He said this in a message given on the occasion of Saraswati Puja on Saturday (February 5).
The President said, “On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, one of the religious ceremonies of the Hindu community, I extend my best wishes to the Hindus of the country.”
He said that the devotees perform this puja for the purpose of gaining the grace of Goddess Saraswati in acquiring knowledge. Every person of the country will be liberated from the scourge of sectarianism, ignorance and cowardice and will come forward to build a prosperous and developed society – this is the expectation of all.
Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony in the world. From time immemorial, the people of this country have been observing their respective religious rites through mutual harmony and coexistence. Everyone must contribute from their respective positions to further strengthen this glorious tradition of harmony existing in the country.
He said, “We are determined to build an enlightened Bangladesh on the centenary of Mujib and the golden jubilee of independence.” I hope that by establishing a non-discriminatory society through the joint efforts of all, we will be able to build the ‘Golden Bengal’ of the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I wish the overall success of the Saraswati Puja festival, the symbol of enlightenment.
