POBNEWS24, Dhaka Oct 4, 2025 : As a maritime littoral country, Bangladesh will continue its maritime cooperation with the small island states.
Bangladesh High Commissioner in London and Permanent Representative of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Abida Islam reaffirmed her commitment at a special event.
High Commissioners and Ambassadors of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) were also present on the occasion.
The special event was organized at the Bangladesh High Commission in London at the initiative of Abida Islam.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of collective action to address global maritime and climate challenges.
High Commissioner Abida said Bangladesh is keen to work closely with the SIDS member states to advance the shared goals of economic growth, maritime security and climate resilience.
The event created an opportunity for Bangladesh and SIDS members to strengthen partnerships and enhance cooperation within the framework of IMO.
The participants appreciated Bangladesh’s active role in promoting sustainable maritime management and its role in leading regional and global maritime issues.
Such initiatives reflect Bangladesh’s growing role in international maritime diplomacy and enhancing equal partnership cooperation between climate-vulnerable developing states.
